Definition of Stepper Motorized
What is stepper motorized?
In view of RobotDigg stepper motorized is all kind of item, product or project using stepper motor as the drive unit.
It's widely used in many industries, as example 3D printer "stepstruder", a word created by MakerBot.
The main component of the filament drive unit for 3d printer is the stepper motor or geared stepper, it's the same even though you adopt pellet extruder.
Why do you need Filament for 3D Printing?
Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) or Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), is an additive manufacturing process that belongs to the material extrusion family. In FDM, an object is built by selectively depositing melted material in a predetermined path layer-by-layer. The materials used are thermoplastic polymers and come in a filament form.
FDM is the most widely used 3D Printing technology: it represents the largest installed base of 3D printers globally and is often the first technology people are exposed to.
Why Not pellet extruder for 3D Printing?
When a habit comes to be a tradition, it seems we are lack of thoughts of change or challenge on it. What can we benefit from pellet other than filament?
a. Saving on cost, energy and time. If we use 3D Printing Filament as tradition, we have to produce the filament in advance, time and energy cost. If we can print from pellet, we do Not have to re-meld the pellet.
b. Recycle precious plastics from to be waste or pollution. PET bottles, plastic waste seems everywhere in our daily life, if we can find a way to reuse of them the plastic waste of daily life could be precious to the earth and our coming generations.
Stepper Motorized RobotDigg
RobotDigg has been professionally manufacturing stepper motors, stepper motor linear actuators ( Lead Screw Threaded, Non-captive and Captive Linear Steppers) and hollow shaft stepper motors since 2003, with engineers from Moons'.
Moreover, we are trying to bring worldwide users with stepper motorized product. Geared stepper motor either low cost gearbox or planetary or worm gear to Stepper Motorized Rotary Table.
Besides, stepper motorized pump and valve peristaltic pump, syringe pump, ceramic dosing pump and piston pump, etc. Stepper motorized linear modules including linear actuator, linear stage and cylinder.
In details, open source stepper motorized syringe pump as the 1st example, since the commercial syringe pumps are so expensive, several people have already made their own projects and attempts to build much less costly devices, especially in recent years, when 3D printing is becoming more widely available and cheaper, and the DIY scene is booming. The following selection of examples of such project tries to briefly cover a few of the most interesting open source ones published on the internet.
The first example is a project made by a team of graduate and undergraduate students at Michigan Technological University, lead by Associate Professor Joshua M. Pearce. It seems to be one with the most serious approach and documentation, they even released a paper about it. The pump is constructed using customizable 3D printed part designed in OpenScad and NEMA stepper motors are controlled by Raspberry Pi with web user interface.
The next example is a pump developed and published on instructables.com by user naroom. The pump (Figure 2.6) is mounted on a aluminum rail, which provides the possibility of fitting it on various mount setups, but at the same time makes the whole pump rather big and clumsy for transportation.
The holders are 3D printed and designed parametrically in OpenSCAD, and thus easily redesignable. Prototyping board Arduino Uno R3 is used for the control, with a shield and enclosure box for mounting on the rail.
